The Ridings in Chipping Sodbury is the town's main hub for outdoor sport and is well maintained by the Town Trust. The Ridings in name may be evidence of Danish influence during the Dark Ages. But today for the people of Chipping Sodbury, it is synonymous with sport and recreation.
The Ridings Recreational Area hosts Chipping Sodbury's Football, Rugby, Tennis and Cricket Clubs, with the Golf Club adjacent, between the Ridings and Chipping Sodbury Common. The Ridings is also home to local running club, the Hogweed Trotters, who in 2014 initiated a 5km parkrun here, comprising three laps of the sports fields.
This Adventure Lab takes a 1.75km lap around the parkrun course (with a short cut, if you're pressed for time), noting some of the points of interest in the park, including the Millennium Gardens. The headline coordinates bring you to free car parking. The Lab and cache are suitable for parkrunners and cachers alike. In fact, the three Lab stages away from the car park/start-finish area are multi-choice, designed so they can be 'done on the run'.
