Geocache Description:

The final cache is NOT located at the posted coordinated. The posted coords do take you to mural 1/public parking lot, but you must solve the puzzle to learn the location of the final container. You can solve the puzzle without going to the seven stages, but coordinates are included, if you choose to look at the murals as you cache.

As you solve the puzzle, you will need to do some short math calculations on some of the stages.

If you choose to walk and see these murals, you will see many historic buildings as you stroll.

The downtown area includes many historic buildings, which currently house shops, restaurants, banks, churches, newspaper building, etc..

In the area, brick exteriors have become the "canvas" of muralists, bearing by-gone scenes of life in Sanford.

Final Location:

MURAL 1:  Piedmont Blues
N 35° 28.842 W 079° 10.701
Painting began in October 2022

This Piedmont Blues musical tradition mural depicts local blues guitarist Floyd Council (main focus) and regional blues musician Pink Anderson (secondary focus).

Floyd Council, lived on Oakdale Street from the 1940s until his death and is buried in an unmarked grave in Moncure. During those years, Council was known to entertain guests and host young guitarists who would try – and fail – to out play him.

Pink Anderson was from SC.

Anderson and Council were both featured in the linear notes on the Blind Boy Fuller album called Country Blues: 1935-1940. Syd Barrett saw their names in that album. He was the front man for a London rock band, The Tea Set. Barrett changed the band’s name to Pink Floyd in 1965.
