This is the second in what could be a series of caches at or near rugby grounds in SE London. It is also the second on Old Elthamians RFC.
I was attached to the club for a number of years, coaching minis and juniors, then helping the senior first team.
This is a slimmed-down version of the club's history:
Old Elthamians RFC were founded in 1911 by the Old Boys of Eltham College.
The club played at Foxbury Field, in Chislehurst (see cache hidden there), which was purchased by the Old Boys Association in 1951. This stayed as the club's home until very recently but the club needed bigger and better facilities and moved to College Meadows at the start of the 2015-16 season. Since then, with the backing of a very generous sponsor in Secure Trading Ltd, the first team climbed to the dizzy heights of National 1, only two leagues below the premiership.
Unfortunately, the sponsor's company went bust and the team had to withdraw from league rugby.
I understand now that they have recently started playing again in cup games, this time with home-grown talent, playing at St Mary's Sports Ground in Chislehurst.
The cache is a 35mm canister, magnetically applied. Bring a pen.
