This is a three stage virtual cache that will have you visit
three sites related to a very important person in American History.
History buffs may figure out the identity of the famous American
from the clues given, but each site has to be visited in order to
obtain the clue needed to progress to the next stage. Although it
is possible to walk from each of the cache locations, it would take
you the better part of the day to do it. I recommend you drive.
Stage One: Proceed to the listed coordinates. Old Four
Eyes once had an office in this building, prior to working in the
more famous building just to the east. He resigned in order to more
actively participate in defending our nation. Cannon captured from
the conflict he participated in are displayed on this building.
A. How many cannon were once
displayed here?
To proceed to Stage Two:
Subtract .003 x A from the listed
latitude
Add (.052 x A) + .012 to the listed
longitude.
For example, if there used to be 15 cannon on display, the
coordinates for Stage Two would be N38 53.879 W077 03.100.
Stage Two: This is an area dedicated to the memory of Old
Four Eyes. So now, even the history challenged now know whom this
cache is memorializing. The ground at this location is sectioned
off in a rough grid pattern with area of brick in each section.
B. How many sections of brick are
there?
C. How many bricks are there in the
central section?
To proceed to Stage Three:
Subtract ((4 x .01 x B) - .210) from the
latitude for Stage Two
Add .001 x C + .193 to the longitude for
Stage Two.
Continuing the example, if there were 15 sections of brick, and
625 bricks in the central section at Stage Two, the coordinates for
Stage Three would be N38 53.489 W077 04.058.
Stage Three: This is (in my opinion) an all but forgotten
memorial associated with Old Four Eyes. To claim credit for this
cache, please e-mail the answers to the following questions to my
profile address.
1. To whom is this cache memorializing?
2. What is the name of the memorial at Stage Three?
3. What are the numbers of the five unknowns?
You are always welcome to e-mail me if you get stumped.
