SkyBridge Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

hofbrauhaus: I thought this would be a great location to pick up a smiley while enjoying the SkyBridge. Fate says something else. I've replaced the container, moved the location, and still fate says it shouldn't be here. The container now has disappeared. This is strike 3. Thanks to all that were fortunate enough to grab a smiley and enjoy the bridge, too.

Geocache Description:

The Swing Bridge is the World’s Longest Timber-Towered Suspension Bridge. It is called SkyBridge. Here’s a link to their website:  https://www.boynemountain.com/skybridge-michigan

This is a new, hopefully final, location. Ski patrol helped me with the placement here.

SkyBridge Michigan is easily about to become ‘Michigan’s second bridge’, enticing travelers to take a walk on the wild side. Panoramic valley views and extensive light displays are a guaranteed camera pleaser. Open year round, every season has a reason to take in the views from this architectural masterpiece.

Because this is located at Boyne Mountain Resort, you will need to purchase a Lift/Walk ticket. If willing, and ambitious, there is a pathway to hike up to the top to get onto the SwingBridge. You will still need a ticket to walk it though. Enjoy and just make it easy by getting the combo ticket. The fastest way to get the ticket is online. You will get a QR code and you can then scan that code into a reader when you arrive and it will print out your ticket. When I placed the container there wasn't any WiFi available and I waited in line. Let's hope they change that quickly.

SkyBridge Michigan is constructed between the peaks of McLouth to Disciples Ridge. Guests ride the historic Hemlock Scenic Chairlift to the mountain’s top, then venture out along the exhilarating 1,200 foot long and 118 foot high pedestrian bridge. The walking width is 5 feet. The SkyBridge extends from the peak of McLouth, or near the top terminal of Mountain Express chairlift, goes over Ramshead, and lands at the summit of Disciples Ridge.

The towers are constructed of wood timbers, sourced from Matelski Lumber right in Boyne Falls, (glulams with 10X10 internal bracing), the main cable is galvanized steel, and the walking surface is steel framing with pultruded grating deck. There is a clear glass section to walk over in the center.

With this attraction being open year round I placed the container close to the paved walkway. This should be assessible even during the winter.

ENJOY THE VIEWS!!!!!!

CONGRATULATION TO SP500 ON HIS FIRST TO FIND !!!!!

The original container 'disappeared' while I had the cache temporaily disabled during the winter months. I see the resort built a new Ski Patrol building near the old location. I decided it would be a great place to put the new container.

Because there is all new follage overhead and around the location, I decided to post a picture of the location of the container.
