Langsett Walk 01 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Dalesman: This cache has been in need of care and maintenance for some time and as the owner has not repaired it I am archiving it.

Guidelines: "You are responsible for occasional visits to your cache to maintain proper working order, especially when someone reports a problem with the cache (missing, damaged, wet, etc.). You may temporarily disable your cache to let others know not to search for it until you have a chance to fix the problem. This feature is to allow you a reasonable amount of time - normally a few weeks - in which to check on your cache. If a cache is not being maintained, or has been temporarily disabled for an unreasonable length of time, we may archive the listing."

If you wish to email me please send your email via my profile (click on my name) and quote the cache name and number.

Many thanks,

Geocache Description:

VERY SORRY :-( See below

The cache is hidden on the circular walk around Langsett Reservoir, Near Penistone, Barnsley.

This cache was reported to be vandalised last month (Feb 2014) with the metal box ripped open and left on the path with the contents spread all over. I've managed to get my account back up again and I need to get hold of the lady who discovered the box. Please can you send me a note again so that I can recover what's left and get the box set up again.

Sorry if you weren't able to find the box. You were most likely in the right location and had it been there you would have found it.

The Cache is a metal box with lock and key hidden close to the circular walk that goes around the reservoir. (This is a bit bigger than the old plastic container) It is waterproof as long as it is left locked.

A good starting point is from the Car Park just as you leave Langsett Village on the way up to the Flouch roundabout. From here the Cache is a 10 minute walk anticlockwise on the circular walk taking the high path. See the notice board near the Rangers Office and Toilets.

When you reach the location the cache is nice and dry but rocky? The reception under the trees is variable depending on the weather, but given this clue you shouldn’t find it to hard. If you want to, check the additional hint.

Why not find the Cache and continue on the circular walk. Take good walking boots and don’t forget that up on the moors the weather can change very quickly.
