Vas Orehovec je največja vas v občini Kostanjevica na Krki, nahaja pa se na odlični izhodiščni lokaciji za pohajkovanje po Gorjancih. Ena glavnih točk vasi je igrišče na robu gorjanskega gozda, poimenovano Mačkovec, ki domačinom že leta služi kot zbirališče za igro in srečanja vseh generacij. Kočo v Mačkovcu so zgradili sami vaščani z lastnimi rokami in sredstvi.
V neposredni bližini koče, nad dejanskim igriščem se nahajajo tudi ostanki spodnje postaje tovorne spuščalke, s katero so les iz Gorjancev tovorili v dolino. Ta je delovala vse do konca druge svetovne vojne, kasneje pa so les iz njene konstrukcije porabili za izgradnjo znamenitega kostanjeviškega Tercijalskega mostu, ki stoji še danes.
Najdišče zaklada je izhodišče za čudovito pot po Gorjancih, in sicer do skrivališča vil Čestitk, legendarnih zavetnic prebivalcev okoliških krajev, ter Mirčevega križa, kjer se skriva nov zaklad. Blizu najdišča se nahaja tudi izvir sveže gorjanske vode, ki je odlična osvežitev pred nadaljevanjem poti.

Orehovec is the largest village in the municipality of Kostanjevica na Krka, and serves as an excellent starting point for exploring the Gorjanci mountain range. One of the main points of the village is the common sports area on the edge of the mountain forest, called Mačkovec, which has served the locals for years as a gathering place for games and meetings of all generations. The cottage in Mačkovec was built by the locals themselves with their own hands and resources.
In the immediate vicinity of the cottage, above the football court, there are also the remains of the lower station of the freight chute, which was used to transport wood from Gorjanci into the valley. It operated until the end of the of Second World War. Later, its wooden beams were used to build the famous Tercialski bridge, which still stands today.
The location of the treasure is the starting point for a wonderful hike through Gorjanci, namely to the resting place of the Čestitke fairies, the legendary patrons of the locls, as well ass Mirčev križ, where another cache is hidden. There is also a spring of fresh mountain water near the site, perfect for a short refreshment before continuing on with your joourney.
