Xmas Midnight in The Middle of Nowhere
My late night travelling events called MITMON is having another Christmas gathering, my second.
We're not planning to go too far from home this time because it is December.
We are planning to bring a full Christmas meal with us and if you wish us to cater for you too you must indicate this in your 'will attend' log and be aware there will be a small charge.
The meal we are planning is a follows, to be served from 6pm ish
Starter; Pate and bread
Main course; turkey, potatoes, vegetables, gravy, stuffing
Dessert; Xmas and sponge cake, cheese and biscuits
Drinks, bring your own.
You will need a plate, cup and cutlery and napkin. Xmas attire and party hats are optional.
So to logistics
Firstly if possible please log your intention to attend and approx. arrival time, so that we know to look out for you, also indicate if you wish us to cater for your dinner.
Another chance to meet up at a simple shelter in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.
There is free basic accommodation very close-by for those wishing to sleep over but it is small so could be pretty cosy, if you want a quiet night's sleep i suggest you bring a tent, or earplugs!
I and others will be sleeping on the fells tonight.
The event will start at 6pm , and will end just before midnight on the same night, to log a find just be there for some of the event time ;-)
Come prepared because it is an upland area, you will need waterproofs, warm clothing, proper footwear, emergency rations, a torch. You will need an ability to navigate yourself to and from the event site, and an awareness of your own safety and limitations. I would also recommend that you bring some food and a warm drink, it is December in Yorkshire after all,
The accommodation has a fire but there will be nothing to burn so I would suggest you bring at least 2 kg of coal per person or something equivalent.
Please be aware this is a serious undertaking, though there are good paths from the parking spot.
Come along, have a chat and a laugh about caching, TBs will be shared and exchanged
All will be welcome.
I will be walking in around dusk, it will take around 30 mins of brisk walking and is on an uneven but clear track.
For those wishing to walk in as a group let me know and we'll arrange a time to meet at the parking late afternoon.
You will not be able to drive all the way to the event.
As always with my events there will be a log book to sign (this is optional) and I will choose one lucky signatory at the end of the event who will be invited to claim FTF.
Finally if you are intending to sleep up there, you won’t be on your own several of us will be staying the night indoors, but you will need to bring your own food and sleeping gear to join us and some fuel for the wood burner.
There is no power or gas in the building so if you need warm food and light or power bring the equipment needed with you.
It's a big hut there is plenty of room.
There is a flushing toilet in the building and a fast flowing stream closely so no need to carry water.
Snorers and silent sleepers are all welcome perhaps it's a good idea to bring earplugs.
I’m looking forward to meeting you on the fells, in the middle of nowhere, in the dark. (Yes my wife thinks I’m mad too)

Logistics
Off road parking is about a 1.3km away on the grass verge and you can only walk to the bothy on easy and very clear paths, the parking spot is about the same contour level than the event. Best allow about 30 mins for the walk in.
Please bring fuel to burn on the fire, I suggest each person brings 2kg of coal or equvalent (there is nothing closeby to burn), this is not a requirement of attending the event, but would be kind.
Sleeping will be on the floor and it is December so come prepared.
Lets hope the weather is fine and clear, plleeeeeeeeeze.
