OBIEKT ALFA - TAJEMNICZE LABORATORIUM W ŚRODKU MIASTA

Oto miejsce, o którym z dużym prawdopodobieństwem mogłeś nie wiedzieć. Przy ulicy Kozielskiej na Kole, w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie Wojskowego Instytutu Higieny i Epidemiologii mieści się jedno z najbardziej tajemniczych miejsc w Warszawie. Oto jego krótka historia, za stroną obiektalfa.pl: 

Historia Obiektu Alfa sięga połowy lat 70-tych XX wieku, okresu Zimnej Wojny i realnego zagrożenia wybuchem III wojny światowej. Zbudowany został jako jeden z elementów zapasowego systemu dowodzenia Siłami Zbrojnymi PRL. Obiekt Alfa posiadał najnowocześniejsze na ówczesne czasy w Polsce laboratorium biologiczne III klasy bezpieczeństwa. Docelowo miały powstać trzy takie obiekty – Alfa, Beta i Gamma. Powstał tylko jeden, na terenie Wojskowego Instytutu Higieny i Epidemiologii przy ul. Kozielskiej 4 w Warszawie.

Obiekt Alfa pełnił rolę tajnego laboratorium wojskowego i obiektu doświadczalnego jeszcze w pierwszej dekadzie XXI wieku. Były tu prowadzone między innymi badania nad ochroną przed bronią masowego rażenia, skażeniami chemicznymi i biologicznymi, wytrzymałością organizmu ludzkiego oraz zachowaniem ludzi w warunkach izolacji i zagrożenia.

Obiekt Alfa był unikalną w skali kraju tego typu budowlą pełniącą jednocześnie rolę schronu przeciwatomowego. Znajdowały się tu między innymi komory służące do odkażania, laboratoria, komory badawcze, gabinet lekarski, biuro, dyspozytornia – będąca głównym centrum dowodzenia schronem oraz maszynownia z potężnymi wentylatorami i stacją filtrów, dostarczającymi powietrze z zewnątrz.

W czerwcu 2016 kompleks otwarto dla wszystkich jako Muzeum Zimnej Wojny. Z ziemi wygląda niepozornie, jednak pod nią do zwiedzania dostępnych było ponad 150 metrów kwadratowych, gdzie można było oglądać dawne wnętrze schronu, doposażonym jeszcze w inne relikty minionej epoki. Niestety, nie trwało to długo:

Niestety po 3 i pół roku działalności z nieznanych powodów umowa dzierżawy została wypowiedziana przez nowego dyrektora WIHE, płk. Adama Ziembę. Tym samym z dniem 8 grudnia 2019 roku Muzeum Zimnej Wojny zostało zlikwidowane.

OBIEKT ALFA - A MYSTERIOUS LABORATORY IN THE CENTER OF THE CITY

Here's a place you probably may not have known about. One of the most mysterious places in Warsaw is located at Kozielska Street in the Koło district, near the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. Here is its short history, from the website obiektalfa.pl:

The history of Object Alpha dates back to the mid-1970s, the Cold War period, and the real threat of the outbreak of World War III. It was built as one of the elements of the backup command system of the Armed Forces of the Polish People's Republic. The Alfa facility had Poland's most modern safety class III biological laboratory at that time. Ultimately, three such objects were to be built - Alpha, Beta, and Gamma. Only one was built here, near the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology at ul. Kozielska 4 in Warsaw.

The Alpha facility served as a secret military laboratory and experimental facility in the first decade of the 21st century. Among other things, research on the protection against weapons of mass destruction, chemical and biological contamination, the endurance of the human body, and the behavior of people in conditions of isolation and danger were carried out here.

The Alfa facility was a unique structure of this type in the country and served as a fallout shelter. There were, among others, decontamination chambers, laboratories, research chambers, a doctor's office, an office, a dispatch room - which was the main command center of the shelter, and an engine room with powerful fans and a filter station supplying air from the outside.

In June 2016, the complex was opened to everyone as the Cold War Museum. It looks inconspicuous from the ground, but under it, over 150 square meters were available for sightseeing, where you could see the former interior of the bunker, equipped with other relics of the past era. Unfortunately, it didn't last long:

Unfortunately, after 3,5 years of operation, for unknown reasons, the lease contract was terminated by the new director of the nearby institute. Thus, on December 8, 2019, the Cold War Museum was closed.
