Geocache Description:

Another in our vintage television series.  This should be a quick park and grab but if children are with you, I would keep them in the car.  Take care pulling in and out of the pull off but there is plenty of room to pull off this road.  Road Closures will occur with ice and snow.

"Flipper" was an American television show that was broadcast from 1964-1967,  The main character was a bottle-nosed dolphin, the pet of Porter Ricks, chief warden of Coral Key Park and Marine Reserve.  The show was dubbed an aquatic "Lassie."  The show starred Brian Kelly as Porter and Luke Halpin and Tommy Norden as his sons.  Female dolphins were chosen to play Flipper as they were more docile and less scarred, making it easier to substitute one for the other during filming.  A male dolphin named Clown was brought in for scenes involving the tail walk. The famous "voice" of Flipper was actually the doctored song of a kookaburra bird.
