Reason For Becoming a Lost Town: The Great Depression had a devastating affect on the town and most of the downtown section now lays in disrepair.
Town History: It began in 1857 with the organization of what was then known as Douglas, a station on the Ann Arbor Railroad. It was renamed North Star in 1884. Population in 1895 was 253 and was probably at its peak during this time. When the Great Depression happened in the 1930's, it devastated North Star economically and over 70% of its population moved away.
