Enjoy four seasons of beauty and wonder with a walk through various habitats that play host to several rare plants and many varieties of birds. This beautiful environment is maintained by the by St. Joseph County Parks (www.sjparks.org) in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
On October 24, 2001, a tornado measuring F3 on the Fujita Scale (an F3 is a severe tornado with winds from 158 to 206 mph) ripped through this natural area leaving a result that imprints a lasting impression on any visitor. Visiting this location allows one to regard the power present in nature and to see first hand the result of such strength.
This is also a wonderful area for bird watching.
Since the area within which the coordinates of this cache fall is a Nature Preserve a traditional cache is not appropriate in this location; however we hope that you will take the time to conscientiously explore this unique environment and enjoy this Virtual cache. While visiting, please stay on the appointed pathways, and make certain to carry out anything that you may carry in.
Rest assured that to find the stated coordinates, there is NO need to pass any No Trespassing signs.
