La Locanda di Tartufo TB Hotel
Pizzo, in Calabria, è considerata la capitale italiana del gelato e affettuosamente chiamata la "città del gelato" dai suoi occupanti. Nel 1952, Don Pippo, nato Giuseppe De Maria, era al lavoro per preparare i dolci per la festa che celebrava la venuta di un nuovo principe. Fu inorridito nello scoprire che non aveva più stampi per modellare il suo gelato durante la sua mise en place. Ricorrendo a modellare i dolci nel palmo delle mani, mise il gelato alla nocciola e cioccolato nel palmo della mano, lo modellò in una palla ruvida e poi lo immerse nel cioccolato fuso. Questo diede loro l'aspetto del tartufo, e nacque il nome Tartufo di Pizzo.
Il Tarufo Travel Bug Hotel è ora aperto per celebrare la città di Pizzo e per portare altri Geocacher nella zona per gustare "Taste of Italy"! La Locanda è chiusa a chiave per proteggere i suoi viaggiatori in attesa del loro prossimo mezzo di trasporto. In caso di emergenza o difficoltà di apertura, USA 112 per assistenza.

Pizzo, in the region of Calabria, is considered the gelato capital of Italy and affectionately referred to as the ‘city of ice cream’ by its occupants. In 1952, Don Pippo, born Giuseppe De Maria was hard at work preparing desserts for the feast celebrating the coming of a new prince. He was horrified to discover that he had no more molds left to shape his ice cream during his mise en place. Resorting to shaping the desserts within the palms of his hands, he placed hazelnut and chocolate ice cream in his palm, shaped it into a rough ball, and then dipped it into melted chocolate. This gave them the appearance of truffles, and the name Tartufo di Pizzo was born.
The Tarufo Travel Bug Hotel is now open to celebrate the town of Pizzo and to bring fellow Geocachers to the area to enjoy “Taste of Italy”! La Locanda is locked to protect its travelers while awaiting their next mode of transportation. In case of emergency or difficulty opening, USA 112 for assistance.
