A quick cache for anyone who simply wishes to take a break in this quite location, or desires to make an adventure of it and walk one, or both of the trails afforded on the nearby conservation areas. From the parking area, one may access either the Podick Conservation Area, or the Katherine Cole Conservation Area. As stated on their webpage: "Each of these conservation areas contains easily accessed trail networks that provide short but secluded outings. Both are home to a variety of forest types, agricultural landscapes, and wetlands. Be on the lookout for wildlife such as white-tailed deer and barred owls". Interesting side note: If you do decide to do the full out-n-back on the Podick Conservation Area trail, or the full loop on the Katherine Cole Conservation Area trail, on both trails you'll start in Amherst, cross over into Hadley, then return to Amherst.
