Geocache Description:

This is a five-part multi-cache treasure hunt adventure in beautiful Queeny Park.

05/23/2001 - 05/23/2026

Many years ago, virtual pirates hid a substantial treasure cache somewhere within Queeny Park in west St. Louis County. Booty any steadfast geocacher would treasure more than mere doubloons or pieces of eight. The pirates were willing to share their swag with any land lubber who had the skill and gumption to find it. True to the pirate stereotype there was a treasure map and "X" marked the spot, however, no hard copy of this map ever existed. There is only a virtual map consisting of the paths connecting WP1 to WP2 and WP3 to WP4 forming a giant “X” straddling the park. WP1 through WP3 are in a quart sized plastic container with instructions for finding the next waypoint or the treasure.

The Pirates have long since swung from the yardarm. The captain’s parrot has moved into a retirement home but has never been seen or heard from again. Numerous treasure hunters have claimed to have found the treasure but there may be more to find. Finding the treasure will take more ingenuity and GPS skill than merely walking in the direction of the big GPS arrow. All waypoints are close to a trail and can be accessed without much bushwhacking.

NOTE

This cache was updated five years ago for its twentieth anniversary and all stages checked and repaired for its 25th. The directions found at each waypoint have been rewritten to make them more helpful. Hopefully, folks who have not tried this cache before will be able to find all the stages and the treasure without getting the treasure coordinates from a previous finder.
