"SEMI PRECIOUS STONES

Apart from the big 4: Diamond, Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald, which are the minerals known as precious stones, there are approximately 130 other mineral species classified as semi-precious stones, we will tell you about the most important ones. What Is The Difference Between Precious Stones And Semi-Precious Stones?
In the first place, it is considered that the rarity and scarcity of a stone are determining factors in classifying it as a precious stone. Amethyst came to be considered a precious stone because it was rare, but when the mines were discovered in Brazil and it became abundant, it was no longer so.
On the other hand, the highest degrees of hardness are found in precious stones, with diamond being the mineral with the highest hardness on the Mohs scale, followed by corundum (ruby and sapphire) and emerald. A high degree of hardness is synonymous with durability.
Finally, semi-precious stones have a very different value between them and it is easier to get pure large semi-precious stones than precious stones of such characteristics."
