Geocache Description:

I flattened Dad's new chicken shed

This is a LETTERBOX cache.  THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED CO-ORDINATES.

You need to follow the instructions below to find the cache (it is not too far away).

To find the cache:

Option 1 - the fun way

  1. Enter from Pottery Road opposite Doyle Avenue. Go down the grassy driveway BETWEEN Number 49 and 51 (past the stump).  It opens into a big wide grassy area owned by the council.
  2. Go straight ahead down towards the creek along the ditch (which should be to your right).  When you get to the creek, this is the POSTED co-ordinates.
  3. Here you can cross over the ditch to the "North" side of the ditch and follow it back uphill about 40-50 paces.  If you get to the wooden paling fence, you've gone too far.
  4. Turn left and walk uphill about 10-15 paces and you will see an old wire fence on the ground.  Step over it (be careful not to trip).
  5. Walk about 10 paces and you will cross over a concrete path in the grass. Follow the path to the left and you will find something large, old and brown/grey coloured.  Walk up to this.
  6. You can see a big square hole (about 1mx1m).  The cache is within 2m of the square hole.

Option 2 - the precise way

  • The cache is 35m from the starting co-ordinates at a bearing of 32 degrees east of true north.

This might help

(you might remember "those" ads on the TV or the funny version from a local annual theatre production - careful, don't run over Grandpa)

Private property note: Despite the appearance, both the posted co-ordinates and the cache are on 49A Pottery Road which is a Hobart City Council reserve (which joins to the Haldane Reserve), and not on private property.  Several properties adjoining this reserve used to "extend" past their boundary.  The council has had a bit of a crackdown recently and as you might be able to see they had to move their fence.  Provided you don't walk through any gates or climb over any any "paling fences" you should be fine.

Enjoy the cache, there are large swaps and I will try to keep it topped up with fun things for kids.  At the time of placement there was a potato clock and a solar powered robot kit.  There is a stamp in the cache, it is not a swap, DO NOT TAKE THE STAMP.
