RUSTIC BRIDGE
The bridge was built by residents to allow access to Tambourine Wharf at the end of Wharf Street, Longueville. It was opened in 1904.
The day was such a success that they held a second opening a week later!
The extension of the tramway into Lane Cove in 1909 provided an alternative means of transport to ‘the city’ for locals and the bridge soon fell into disrepair and ferry services to Tambourine Bay stopped in 1910.

This section of the walk passes through emerging rainforest foliage as it was a century ago. It is a great spot to see birds, both waders in the creek at low tide and birds in the surrounding trees.
