HISTORIC POOL
This area was originally frequented by the Cammeraygal people.
The name Tambourine Bay first appeared on Surveyor's maps as early as 1831. The reserve here was first mentioned in official Colonial documents in 1875 and the first known residents were recorded in 1889.

The Lane Cove River is tidal at this point. In 1954 a swimming pool was constructed here using local labour and funds but it was not opened until 1957 although it was used before this date. Locals can remember swimming here. The pool was rarely used after the opening of Lane Cove Pool in 1961. It fell into disrepair, eventuallly being demolished however at very low tide you can still see the foundations of the pool.
The area was improved and opened as a picnic area on the original pool site on 15-11-2015.
To find the cache follow the track from either end, I recommend doing the walk from the Karingal Road end and returning via the road where you can see the homes and views of the local millionaires, and the way they put out their rubbish.

At the published co-ordinates beside Tambourine Bay locate the plaque and find the Surname of the Mayor when the picnic area was opened. Enter this name into the Certitude checker to receive the final GZ co-ordinates.
