The Ayuntamiento de Mijas has created an "Urban Forest" to help offset carbon dioxide levels. 400 trees have been planted in the zone and paths and benches have been added for the public to enjoy the area.
However, we really hope that this is not an excuse to destroy the nearby forest of el chapparal for building projects. A lot of the area you see around you has been zoned for building, which, if goes ahead, will surely negate the effort of planting 400 trees.
