Welcome to the Whittemore Preserve CCC Geotrail which is designed to be very Family friendly, educational and showcasing the rich beauty of the Sanctuary through COMMUNITY.CULTURE.CONSERVATION!
Whittemore Preserce includes Whittemore House and 11 miles of trails for hiking, dog walking, and horseback riding. Trails traverse mainly wooded areas with wetlands, ravines, and hilly terrain. The sanctuary also serves as the perfect stage for birders and nature lovers to view local avian species and other wildlife.
Whittemore Preserve was bequeathed to Tewksbury Township by the beloved Helen A. Whittemore. She was a nature lover and diarist who wanted her land and house to be preserved so that others may be awed by the natural world and inspired by its beauty to preserve it.
Whittemore is just one part of a wide and varied network of parks and preserved land in Tewksbury Township. Christie Hoffman, Fairmount North, and Oldwick Fields are used by the organized sports offered by the Tewksbury Athletic Association. Equestrians use the Cold Brook Preserve and Christie Hoffman Farm trail networks. Nature education is offered to walkers at Pascale Farm. Quiet serenity abounds for walkers on other preserved land. In short, area residents have an abundance of opportunities to appreciate the beauty of the local landscape.
