On The Trail Of
Betty The Yeti

This is a night cache, to be completed at night!!!
You are going to need a torch, a real one, the brighter the better, preferably not a phone torch!

Betty the Yeti is Howie the Yowie's girlfriend. Betty has been spotted roaming the pathways and bushland of Castle Hill, probably trying to find Howie.
She is said to be a shy creature and can only be seen at night. Are you up for the challenge of following her trail to track her down?
The first part of your journey to find Betty will be by car while the last part will see you on foot. The walking track starts out smooth but can be a bit rocky in parts over some uneven ground. Despite this, it should be OK for young children as long as you take your time.
Wherever Betty has been, she leaves white “Shinies” behind. These are reflective diamonds.
Some points to help you:
- Wear sturdy shoes.
- Wear long pants. There may be mozzies and other creatures about!
- Always mark the position of your car on your GPS or Geocaching App.
- Hold your torch at eye level to get the best reflection back.
- Once you've found Betty, there's a trail of red Shinies to help you find your way back. They don't go all the way but I'm sure you'll figure out where you are.

OK, it’s time to get started.
Betty has been seen near the published coordinates, (she likes dogs, can you see a shinie?) To discover where she has gone, look at the information boards on the stone pillar. How many convicts were continually employed in felling the trees? To discover where Betty's trail starts, work out the following.....
S 33° 43.(Convicts-490)
E 150° 59.(Convicts+135)
Once you have completed the coordinate calculations, drive there and park nearby. You should see the first of Betty's shinies. Now continue your journey on foot.
---------------<<<000>>>--------------
Follow the trail of Shinies until you find 3 white Shinies, in a triangle. This is where you'll find Betty.
Now, to prove you really did track Betty down, it would be fabulous if you could capture an image of part or whole of this shy little lady and upload the pic with your log. Bonus Points if you include you and/or your geo-name in the photo.
Good luck tracking
