Commencement of building Burrinjuck Dam was in 1906 and due to war wasn't completed until 1928.
During the building of the dam explosives were used to move rock and blast pasages and roads for the dams construction.
This place is quite some distance from the dam wall itself as the explosives were usually kept well away from the working area and transported when needed to their destination for safety reasons. It may seem strange now as quite some distance of water has to be traveled to reach this cache but back then there was probabply a road as the waters of the dam had not yet started to back up and rise.
You will need some form of water craft to tackle this one thus the high terrain rating but a canoe on a good day will do the job in less than an hour.
Hope you enjoy this hidden gem of history.
