Montrose Reverse Wherigo
THE CACHE IS NOT AT THE LISTED CO-ORDINATES. YOU WILL NEED TO USE THE WHERIGO APPLICATION TO DETERMINE THE FINAL CO-ORDINATES AND THE LOCATION OF THE CACHE CONTAINER TO SIGN THE LOG.
This a reverse wherigo with a twist:
- Step 1 - Load a Wherigo ROM player on your smartphone (or a GPS that has one).
- Step 2 - Load the Waldmeister Reverse Wherigo ROM into your Whereigo player
- Step 3 - Obtain the numbers required and enter these into the Reverse Cache box
- Step 4 - Take a distance measurement and move somewhere else (you may be further or closer) to take another distance measurement.
- Step 5 - Eventually you will get the location of the cache revealed if you are less than 25m away from it.
- Step 6 - Find the cache.

Getting the Numbers
At the posted co-ordinates there is a spot where a sign used to be. There's another sign clearly visible along the railing towards the highway, on the opposite side of a gate with 6 lines of text. That is what these new numbers are based on (since April 2026) due to the removal of the previous sign and accompanying roadworks which moved the gate and removed the plaque.
- P = number of times the letter P (for Papa) appears in the 4th line
- Q = number of times the letter G (for Golf) appears in lines 4-5
- R = number of times the letter I (for India) appear in the 5th line
For confirmation or if the sign is moved again, along the railing you will also find a three-digit number PQR written on a plate under/behind the guard rail within 4 posts of the posted coordinates. Note this number is different to the previous number in that location (prior to April 2026).
Make a new number out of these as:
The numbers to enter into the reverse cache box are:
- #1: 014281
- #2: 685221
- #3: 482XYZ
Go Find It
Using the App, take a measurement and you will work out if you are getting "hotter" or "colder".
Each time you move to a new location, it will tell you how close you are (not the distance).
