The above picture was taken in August, 2022, and shows the demolition of the 1891 Redwood County Courthouse. The north edge of the this building was at the posted coordinates. The Redwood County Commissioners determined that the 1891 courthose, with a large 1960s addition, was not feasible to upgrade for modern uses. The new building that you are standing in front of was built in 2021 and 2022 . This building is called the Redwood County Justice Center and houses the courts, judge and court administrator. Many county functions were previously moved into other buildings including the building to the east of this spot , and a remodeled building a block north.
The second stage of this multi will take you to the Redwood County Government Center (a former grocery store) which contains the county boardroom and other county offices such as the recorder, assessor, treasurer, license center.
At the listed coordinates you will find information about the civil war cannon and the Redwood Stockade. These monuments were located on other areas of the courthouse grounds before the new construction.
