Number 2 in the Bus Art Series
On a rainy evening in 1987, John Noakes saw a group of children huddled in the dark, graffiti-covered bus shelter at Company Bay and decided to make the structures more appealing. Over the next 15 years he painted about 65 shelters.
John died in 2006, aged 67 and since then, various grants have paid for restoration work on some of his murals. The first bus shelter he painted now has a portrait of John and plaque as a tribute to his vision and work. This is located at Company Bay (reference point given)
