The Independence Bowl has been played annually in Shrevport LA since the 1970s. One of the memorable games was the 2000 Independence Bowl which matched Texas A & M and Mississippi State which became known as the snow bowl as it was played in a blinding snow storm all the way down in Louisiana! Back in 1995 Michigan State and LSU played in the 1995 Independence Bowl which LSU won 45-28. The Spartans happened to be led that year by first year head coach Nick Saben.
