The Winter Solistice for 2022 will occur at 4:47pm ET on December 21
Since prehistory, the winter solstice has been a significant time of year in many cultures and has been marked by festivals and rituals. It marked the symbolic death and rebirth of the Sun; the gradual waning of daylight hours is reversed and begins to grow again.
The Winter Solistice occurs when either of the the Earth's poles reaches the maximum tilt away from the sun. This happens twice yearly, once in each hemisphere. For the Northern hemisphere, this occurs every December and is the day with the shortest period of daylight. The daylight hours get longer every day until we reach the Summer Solistice in June.
Let's take a moment and celebrate this special day.
I placed this cache in a spot I've been eyeing for awhile in an area that could use a quick, Winter-friendly cache. Should be easy to get to unless we get a huge snow storm.
