Welcome to Cache Across Maryland 2023. This year is the 20th anniversary of CAM. We have made this year a little special with a CAM cache in every county, plus Baltimore City.
This is one of the caches placed for Cache Across Maryland 2023. You must find a minimum of ten caches prior to the picnic held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in order to receive a free Maryland Geocaching Society CAM geocoin.
Make note of the code word found inside each cache container. You must enter all the symbols into an online decoder in order to print your CAM certificate as well as print a claim form to submit and receive your geocoin at the picnic. More info on CAM is available here.
There are FIVE MANDATORY COUNTIES. THOSE WILL BE GARRETT, ST MARY'S, CECIL, WORCESTER AND ANNE ARUNDEL. You can choose any of the other five counties to find a minimum of ten CAM caches.
Hopkins Cove Overlook
The Mason-Dixon Trail connects the Appalachian Trail with the Brandywine Trail. This 200 mile long trail starts at Whiskey Springs on the Appalachian Trail, in Cumberland County, PA and heads east towards the Susquehanna River, passing through Gifford Pinchot State Park en route. The trail then follows the west bank of the Susquehanna River south to Havre de Grace, MD. Across the river, the M-DT continues east, passes through Elk Neck State Forest, then on to Iron Hill Park, DE, north along the Christina River and White Clay Creek to the White Clay Creek Preserve. The trail then heads northeast to its eastern terminus at Chadds Ford, PA on the banks of the Brandywine River.

Starting from either parking lot below, the blue blazes of the Mason-Dixon Trail will serve you well on the way to the cache.
If you hike towards this CAM Cache from the South you will pass 5 other caches (GC1Q8YX, Conowingo Lake; GC5C2QY, Looking for a Sign; GC5C2TB, Rainy Day; GC5C2VJ, Turtle Down; and the new CAM 2023 Bonus AAWWW…Nutz!, GCA4JK2). Round trip from the Pool parking is roughly 2 miles.
If you come in from the North at Glen Cove Marina, you will pass the new CAM 2023 Bonus Frogedabowdit (GCA4JME) and the oldest cache in Harford County (GC43BB – Eagle Pt). From the Glen Cove Marina to the Conowingo Dam Pool Parking is 2.8 miles. There is a porta-potty available at Glen Cove Marina. To take this route, head down past the marina store and go 90 feet past his “Private Drive No Trespassing” sign to where the blue-blazed Mason-Dixon Trail heads up into the forest.
As you get closer to ground zero, do NOT cross the fence until you get to the top of the hill. Then head toward the water. The cache is an ammo can in the end of a fallen tree. Please hide as well as found or better.
