The silver birch tree stands in memory of Corporal Audrey Mee Henderson, who was stationed at RAF Syerston from 1944-1947. The tree was also latterly jointly dedicated to Flying Officer Donald James Henderson, who served as a Navigator/Bomb Aimer between 1942-1947. Whilst stationed at RAF Syerston, he met Cprl Mee, and they later married.
Corporal Henderson also has a tree dedicated to her at Thorpe Camp Visitor Centre at Tattershall Thorpe which references her service at RAF Scampton, RAF Coningsby and RAF Syerston.
Also dedicated at this location is Leading Aircraft Women Winifred Beaumont.
A further dedication is to Vulcan VX770, which exploded over RAF Syerston on 20 September 1958, with the loss of 4 crew and 3 ground crew. This tragic accident happened during an airshow, with thousands in attendance who witnessed the tragedy. It was also being recorded and the footage can be found on YouTube.
