CACHE IS NOT AT POSTED COORDINATES

But the best public parking option is so feel free to head there if you'd like. There is also street parking here and there throughout the neighborhood, just mindful of the street parking signs.

This cache is a part of a series to recognize buildings, monuments, structures, and areas in Lincoln that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places, NE Historic Markers, and Local Landmarks.

This LNK NRHP series mystery cache involves three seperate listings all in the northwest corner of the Woods Park neighorhood; Murphey, Brown, and Stake Houses. There are two historic local landmarks identified as well but not required to solve for this cache. All five homes are listed in the Waypoints. The posted coordinates are a centrally located parking option. This mystery requires the cachers to visit each NRHP listing identified in the Waypoints and aquire a number or two to plug into the final coordinate key. You can visit them in any order you'd like.

Waypoint MH: 

The William L. and Sydney V. Murphy House is a two and a half story Queen Anne style built in 1889. More recently but not currently it belonged to the namesake of the Sheldon Art Museum, Frances Sheldon. This house was listed on the NRHP on November 4, 1994. 

There is a sign in the north yard facing "N" Street.

Waypoint BH:

The Guy A. Brown House was built in 1874 and listed on the NRHP on March 5, 1998. This Italianate style house was built for Civil War Veteran Guy A. Brown who became Nebraska's State Librarian and was also the reporter and clerk of the Nebraska Supreme Court. This historic listing was remodled in 1935 as a duplex and features an American Craftsman porch.

Waypoint SH:

The R.O. Stake House was designed by George A. Berlinghof and built in 1919 by Reese O. Stake who built many homes in Lincoln. This American Craftsman was listed on the NRHP on April 27, 2005. The NRHP form says the following about this historic home.

 "The bungalow has textured brown bricks cladding the structural-tile walls of the exterior, with restrained limestone trim on the south chimney and front steps. The wide eaves have stuccoed soffits and the raking eaves have substantial wooden brackets. The complex, interlocking gable roofs are permanently finished in glossy, green-glazed tiles."
