The Wanli UFO village on the northeast coast of Taiwan might be the last place in the world to see a whole village of Futuro and Venturo houses. Originally designed as an easy-to-build, easy-to-heat, and portable ski cabin, the Finnish architect Matti Suuronen imagined these pods as a retro-futuristic dream of the “housing of the future”.
A rich businessman planned and imagined this pod village as a summer resort for the rich. But the weather kept destroying the pod houses, it got very hot and uncomfortable inside in the summer, and just behind the village is a huge graveyard, which is considered a bad place for most Taiwanese. Nevertheless, some houses are still inhabited today.
