Geocache Description:

Acknowledgement of Country: I would like to pay my respects to the First People: the traditional custodians of the lands and waterways of Ngunnawal, Ngunawal and Ngambri Country. I would like to acknowledge that this geocache has been placed on what always was, and always will be, Aboriginal land.

It's been 10 years since I released the Queen PT at Googong Dam and now, I believe there's another beautiful area of Googong Dam which deserves a powertrail. This new PT is a walk from the carpark at the Downstream Picnic Area, along the Bradley's Creek Walk, detouring to Googong Lookout and the returning to the carpark via another section of the Bradley's Creek Walk. There are hills but it's a short walk with beautiful vegetation and spectacular views of the Dam. The water looks spectacular from high up at Googong Lookout!

The theme for this PT is the Big Bash League (BBL). I never used to be the biggest fan of cricket as a child but with the emergence of the BBL, it has made the game fun and enjoyable for me to watch, especially since the T20 games are shorter (I am gaining an aquired taste of test matches). The BBL is an Australian T20 cricket series each summer which began in 2011 with games almost every night for several weeks. Howzat! I think the best part of the BBL is the distinctive, colourful range of team kits!

There are eight teams currently competing in the BBL. This cache is about the: Brisbane Heat

Men's titles: 2 (2012-13, 2023/4)

Women's titles: 2 (2018-19, 2019-20)

Colour: Teal

The BBL PT will take you to eight traditional caches about each of the eight BBL teams. There is also a mystery cache on the journey back to the carpark: GCA3ADC. There are laminated cards in all eight traditional caches to help you calculate the coordinates for the mystery cache; please do not remove the laminated information card from any of the caches.

All eight traditional caches are 180mL Sistema containers with some swaps in each. Please cover each cache well upon leaving.

I recommend long pants, hiking shoes and perhaps gaiters because there is some long grass and thorns between the track and each cache. Snakes are also a risk to take into consideration in this area during warmer months.

I hope you enjoy this PT; there are plenty of other caches nearby you can score on a trip out here! Please note that during daylight savings, Googong Dam is open from 8am to 8pm and in non-daylight saving times, it is open from 8am to 6pm. Do not enter the reserve outside of these times.
