Information:
My grandparents live in Hidding, on one of the roads near Van Lier's grave. I have regularly passed it when visiting them and recently thought it would be interesting to place a cache here. Unfortunately, the grave is usually locked however you can still learn about Van Lier at the information board found near GZ.
HELPERUS RITZEMA VAN LIER (1764-1793)
Van Lier was born in Assen, Netherlands and attended school and university in Groningen. Although he excelled in science and philosophy he elected to train for the ministry. He was appointed as a minister of the Groote Kerk at the Cape where he made an impression as a preacher and pastor. He was particularly known for his missionary zeal. After a ministry of 7 years, he died at the youthful age of 28 years. He was buried in the countryside which he loved.

The fact that this area was once the countryside is quite mind-boggling. It is wonderful that this land and the memory of Van Lier have since been preserved.
About the cache:
Previously there was a cache (GC5GT43) located here however it was muggled and with the owner not rehiding it I decided to place a new cache here. The cache is not located in the same place.
