This cache is situated in a park dedicated to the memory of artist Ian Fairweather, who lived on Bribie Island for over 20 years from 1953 until his death in 1974. What is remarkable about IF is that he lived a reclusive life, in a Polynesian style hut that he built himself, without mains water or electricity yet produced some of the most unique and important works of the Australian art scene during that time. Ian believed that his art required his total dedication and he could not produce good work if he was distracted by other aspects of life. When Ian lived here there were still wild Emu roaming Bribie - he predated the bridge and most development.
This park is situated in the approximate location of that hut. In the centre of the park is a stone memorial to Ian Fairweather. The location of the cache is within sight of the memorial stone (but not the commemorative plaque). Beware of the residential gardens along one side of the park. A number of decks face onto the park, so the cache is placed away from those.
There is a First to Find coin in the cache for the lucky first Cacher to keep in their own collection.
Please note there is a large tree near the residential gardens which has a wild bee nest in a hollow at a childs head height. Obviously, the cache is not located near this tree.
