This geocache is one of a trilogy of "Dog" multis, the others two being GCA3ENZ and GCAWM1E.
Another multi-cache on Lonsdale! The cache is not at the posted coordinates. The starting area is Rey Sargent Park & the Gordon Smith gallery – in an area recently redeveloped, from what was once the site of Lonsdale Elementary School, and a less modern version of the same park. Aside from the art gallery, this public space includes several pieces of new artwork, some of which are interactive.
STAGE 1:
Gathering clues does not depend on going inside the art gallery, just searching around the park and edges of the building. Once you find all the clues at this stage, and match them to the coordinate variables, it will reveal the location of the next stage / waypoint.
Location of Stage 2 waypoint: N49 19.ABC W123 04.DEF
Clue A = Number of metal crows flying around the pole (sculpture near the posted coordinates), divided by the number of metal flagpoles south of the gallery building.
Clue B = Number of blue "baby feeding" signs in the trellis area to the south-east.
Clue C = Number of letters in English word at bottom center of totem pole near building.
Clue D = Number of vertical concrete pillars holding up south-east trellis structure.
Clue E = Number of words on the illuminated sign near the gallery's east entrance (full title of building).
Clue F = Number of bollard posts which say "stop" minus the number which say "look" (west of the stone archway).
Enter these results for the missing coordinates, then proceed to the next stage.
STAGE 2:
At this location you will find a fairly obvious sign; the right side of the sign has bits of information with points numbered 1-9. You will be given phrases from the text as clues to each coordinate variable; match the point which those phrases appear in to the corresponding numbers to get the answers. (Any phrase which comes from above the numbered information items counts as zero.) The answers will provide the next set of missing coordinates, revealing the cache location.
FINAL cache location: N49 19.GHI W123 04.JKL
Clue G: "stormwater run off from bioswales"
Clue H: "Catch basin collects"
Clue I: "Concrete weirs"
Clue J: "Rain garden with wetland vegetation"
Clue K: "native grasses and wildflowers"
Clue L: "Overflow catch basin"
CACHE INFORMATION:
The geocache is in a safe place, under concealment. The container is small, but has micro carrying capacity, so bring your own pen. The area has tree cover, so GPS might pull you around a bit, but the cache is not somewhere unreasonable given the terrain rating. However, the area does become quite muddy in wet weather, so appropriate shoes or boots are reccomended,
Inside the container you will find a log book and pencil, and there is not room for much else, so please do not put any swag in the cache. Be mindful of the local environment; do not litter, and if you are accompanied by a dog, clean up its waste. If you are stuck at any stage, use the Hints.
