Originally we placed the cache at the well itself - we tried a magentic and a tube. Both went missing. So turn around and look for the spruce tree behind you. Hoping this will be a safer option. However this is a really peaceful place to stop and rest, and if you've bought a picnic, then so much the better. Enjoy a short rest.
The well was a 2010 restoration project, funded by th Heritage Lottery. The other end of the spring, with another well, is further down the road past the village hall - where incidently, it is possible to get coffe and cake, every day except Sunday
There is an excellent information board next to the well, giving the geological and historical details of the spring and it's origins.
Round-about there are several footpaths, including a walk back into Penrith.
