Colorado's very own Kenyansherpa is the LAST finder, and one of only 3 confirmed finders, of GC2BX63, the EarthCache at the peak of Mount Everest. He found the cache on 5/21/2013. This achievement in and of itself is incredible. But add to that the fact that he was in his 60s and is blind in one eye makes it even more astounding!
Hear from Kenyansherpa about his journey in getting the opportunity to summit, and ultimately summiting Everest. It's a journey that required years of preparation and summiting other incredible peaks along the way.
I heard a portion of his story when we walked together at one of my CITO events recently. But there are so many layers! It's not just "I showed up and hiked Everest." I found it so fascinating that I asked him if he'd be willing to share his story with the geocaching community. He has graciously accepted my invitation and I hope this event has an incredible turnout.
This event will be held in Event Hall East in the Castle Rock Library which should offer plenty of seating for everyone (it accommodates up to 65 people).
We'll start probably around 1:15 or so to give people time to arrive and find the room.
Please bring your questions! I'm asking Kenyansherpa to prepare a presentation, he'll be open to any questions you have. Let's make this a memorable event!
RECORDING THE EVENT - I am working on arranging professional audio/visual recording of the event (I have connections). I will host the recording on YouTube after the event and include a link here.
IMPORTANT - in order to log an "Attended" log, you MUST be present at the event and sign the log. I want to stay in the good graces of HQ and our reviewer. I will delete logs of individuals who I know were not present and did not sign the log.
