This is Texas Brushland, loaded with natural gas wells, windmill farms, and game ranches. Not so long ago though it was full of cattle ranches and many small vibrant communities and, of course, many family cemeteries. Santa Rita is one of those. This is actually a fairly new cemetery that was started when an older one by the same name, farther west, was filled. The website cemeteries of texas has this to say about Santa Rita: Santa Rita Ranch, in San Ramon Land Grant of 1804, was established by Julian and Petra Gutierrez Casas of Camargo about 1881. Casas' grandson Felipe Garza Casas (1883-1969)and his wife Rosa Casas Garza raised sheep and cattle on his 109-acre share. If you seek this cache, you'll have the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico and Santa Monica both on the same day by automobile! Excited? Great, but don't expect a lot. The cache is NOT in the cemetery, it's on the south side of the road. You don't need to cross any fences but watch out for thorns and things that bite.
