Nangangtou Community feels like the village that time has passed by. It was established decades ago and the main local econmic activity is a couple of sleepy ceramics and building materials factories and some logistics warehouses, none of which feel very modern or with promising futures. The old factory buildings and houses, slowly crumbling, look historical and perhaps might be at least partly revitalized rather than completely demolished in coming years.
Through it all passes the blueway, in this section the Jinzi Chong rather than the Nangang River, newly built and still being expanded. The blueway is impressively unobtrusive, passing along the waterfront while not requiring buildings to be demolished and providing a valuable waterfront-facing public space enjoyed by the relatively few residents and visitors to this quiet area.
