Geocache Description:

Welcome to the FLOWING POND TRAIL:

**Please park in the one-car limited space in front of the gate**

Every spring, turtles try crossing roads. Some get struck and killed by cars as they make this attempt. Most times, they try crossing in the same locations every year. 'Turtles have it hardwired into their brains where they want to go to breed and feed'. Drivers may have noticed a number of "Turtle Crossing" signs that have gone up along several roads on Cape Cod recently. These are strategic spots where turtles have been known to cross usually in search of a sandy spot to lay their eggs. These signs are put up in hopes that drivers will slow down and watch for turtles crossing in these specific areas. Anyone who sees a turtle that has been struck by a car can call (508)945-5111. There is also a turtle hotline located in Welfleet (508)349-2615 Extension 6104. You can call if you have any questions or need guidance. If you're unsure of the species, take a photo and email it to Welfleet@massaudubon.org
