About the area
Enniscoe House is one of the greatest surprises that Crossmolina has to offer. The old Georgian house has been in the same family since the
1790s, and is a busy, functioning guesthouse with a unique flower garden and organic vegetable garden.
The Mayo North Heritage Centre is based in the grounds alongside a well-equipped museum of local artefacts.
Set in parkland and mature woods on the shores of Lough Conn, this place offers the visitor friendliness, peace and relaxation. It is a very special place for anglers and other visitors with a natural empathy for untamed wilderness of the area.
How to get here
From Crossmolina, take the R315 in the direction of Castlebar. The entrance to Enniscoe house is on your left after approx. 4 km.
There is a car park at the entrance of the North Mao Heritage centre, which is also the starting point of all walking routes in this area.
In the walking routes you will see ancestral trees and you will get lovely views of Lough Conn and mount Nephin.
The cache
You are looking for a small plastic container situated in one of the walking routes in the woods around Enniscoa house.
There are different walking routes, but the cache is situated on Loop Walk 1. Please notice that there is no need to abandon the path to get the cache, so please stay on the route.
The original content of the cache is a plastic gold coated medal, a toy bouncy ball and the log. Please bring your own pen to sign it.
Remember that if you take something, you should leave something in exchange for the next geocacher.
Good luck and enjoy the experience!
