Geocache Description:

Miller’s Pool is the furthest upstream of fifteen named pools on six miles of the upper middle River Spey, known as the Abernethy Beat.  This is one of two beats managed by the Abernethy and Aviemore Angling Association offering exceptional salmon and sea trout fishing.  Association members have full access to this beat. In addition, day and weekly fishing permits are readily available to visiting anglers from Boat of Garten Post Office.  The GZ is not actually at the waters edge so no need to worry about junior geocachers or geomutts getting wet. Tweezers might be handy for this one.

Salmon Trail is one of the many trails starting in the village of Boat of Garten. This circular walk runs along Kinchurdy Road to the edge of the village, across the railway and returns alongside the River Spey.  Distance 2.5 miles (4km); approx. 1 hour walking (without geocaching) and is also a good cycling route.  Please keep dogs on leads near livestock and cross the railway with care in case the Steam Train is passing.

This series of caches are all along the riverside stretch of the trail within 20m of the main path. No caches have been put on Kinchurdy road in case you wish to walk along the woodland paths and find the caches in nearby Deshar Woods. There is limited parking near BoG Crossroads cache and a layby near the golf course (see waypoint on Salmon Trail – Golf course). Caches have been placed with kind permission of Seafield Estate.
