Cache is NOT at the posted coordinates
This is the final bonus cache in the small Hodges Pond series. You will need to find the two caches "Dam Bridge" and "Hanging By a Needle" and find clues hidden in their containers in order to solve the location of this final cache. The cache is hidden a short distance off the trail but should not require much disruption to access. Please replace the cache carefully where you found it; if it was on the ground or its location is no longer viable, please leave a maintenance note.
FINAL COORDINATES:
N 43 0[B+2].[B-1]5[O+1] W 080 [O-B][O-B].2[O][B+1]
Be careful! O ≠ 0
This cache is part of a small Hodges Pond series. You will need to find two caches (this one and "Hanging By a Needle") in order to reveal the location of the third, "Dog's Bark." The final mystery cache is completely optional and both other caches can be treated as separate traditional caches. All caches are hidden a short distance off the trail but should not require much disruption to access. Please be mindful while you're searching
Hodges Pond was originally built as a mill pond, but decades of disuse turned it into a shallow, warm, sediment-filled lake with low oxyen and lots of bacteria. When the water flowed into the Thames River, six kilometers downstream, it had the poorest water quality of almost any tributary in the Upper Thames watershed.
In 2015, a re-naturalization project started with the goal of restoring roughly 400 acres of land to its former glory. The old mill dam was removed and now the area sees improved flood reduction and better water quality. In recent years, trails were developed so that the public can now enjoy this healing ecosystem.
This cache was hidden during an outing with our dog, Wizard. We met lots of other pups along the way!
You're searching for a small aluminum screw-top canister. It has a logbook and room for some very small items. Bring your own pen and ENJOY!
