Lightning McQueen is the main character in the Pixar movie "Cars". He is a race car that has to learn how to slow down and enjoy life. In the first movie, he is a cocky young car that wants to win at all costs. This almost gets him banned from racing. With the help of his friends, Lightning McQueen learns that there are more important things than winning.

His racing number is 9?, a reference to the year 1996 when Pixar released its first feature length film Toy Story. Originally his number was going to be ?7, which references 1957, the year John Lasseter, the director of the first two Cars films, was born.
