This extension of the trail from Tiffin, eventually connecting to Coralville was paved years before the public was allowed to use it due to the construction of the I80/I380 connection remodel. Trail may be closed, periodically, due to construction. Do not try to access cache from the Interstate, please, park at the provided waypoint. NOTE: Geocaching map shows a trail that goes from Westcor St to the trail. This trail is not built yet, so stick to provided parking waypoint. I will add parking waypoint when that trail extension is done.
Geocache Log #1
I have always been a hiker and a nature photographer. I bought a Garmin etrex the fall of 2000 to use while hiking off trail to go photo hunting. I used it to get back to my car and out of the woods. The fall of 2005 there was an article in the Daily Iowan about Geocaching that my brother saw. He asked me about my GPSr and I said yeah, I still have it. That Thanksgiving we ventured out in our hometown of Burlington to see if we could find a geocache. We failed. The wind was howling and the windchill was near/below zero. I had no idea what I was doing and was convinced we needed a shovel. The next day we ventured out, in much better weather, and tried again. We attempted a different one. My brother made the find. I took a photo since I always take my camera with in the woods.

Our 2nd cache started out rough. Since we had to manually put in the coordinates we made a mistake. Once we corrected that mistake we got to GZ and could not find the cache. We looked everywhere and decided we were going to give up. Then I said, “If I hid a cache I would hide here.” I picked up a log to point under it and the log split into two revealing the hidden geocache inside. I was hooked. I also took a photo.

My brother and I did a photo book through Apple to give to our parents/grandparents for Christmas sharing our adventures/photos. I decided we should log all our geocaches in another book and Geocache Log #1 was born. It has the first 100 caches we found. It covers from November 25th, 2005 to September 24th 2006.

There are so many great adventures and stories in the photos. I also decided to document the equipment we used for geocaching AKA Tools of the Trade.

After 100 caches the first Volume was done!
