What a dinner! Fourteen guest and not one unhappy soul with the meal. Time for digestifs and some light conversation (all are a diverse group of travelers and all with tales to share) and I can conclude another successful dinner party.
Carol just got back from Connecticut and Rhode Island and is talking on and on about the flood of people in LaGuardia. Allen just bowled back from Texas having outpaced a tornado in Austin. Rita had to chime in with her two cents on the awful traffic she experienced in Houston. Irma, the thespian of the group, is regaling us with her appearance on a BBC crime drama filmed in Saint Marie. They filmed on location. She performed admirably as the red herring. Luis just can’t compete with that as all he did was take a cruise to Newfoundland aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2. Joan (who is in the process of changing her name to Miriam) overachieved us all by visiting both the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean this year. Dear Iota always coming in last but always with a juicy tale, visited Nicaragua this past November.
Roy (?!?), on no he’s telling the story of how he was renamed after his mom fell overboard and got amnesia near the Marshall Island. I might have to cut him off. Karen does not look happy about this interruption of her deep-sea diving in Guam story. Good old Mike coming in to save the day with his light hearted tale of visiting the Philippines, says he got a bounced check from the Marcos while there. Mireille, who would never bounce a check, took a very costly trip to Japan this year visiting 41 of the 47 prefectures. Yutu roved all around the Northern Mariana Islands, really hitting the Islands of Tinian and Saipan. Oh, Oh Ophelia mind must be on drugs since she is claiming to have overthrown a government in the Carolina Islands. I don’t even know where that is to contradict her. Melor, what a saint, got us off that off putting topic by recounting their relaxed trip though the South China Sea.
Time to wind down this party. Make sure everyone gets their correct coats and I can then put my feet up till the end of next year’s travel season.
