| Logging Etiquette: Geocache hiders sometimes go through a great deal of planning to place their caches. As a result, they'd like to hear your feedback on whether you liked or disliked any aspect of the hide, the journey or location, or if you feel that some cache maintenance is required. Single word, acronym, or "copy and paste" logs may be easier when you have a lot of caches to log, but it doesn't tell the hider or other finders anything about your adventure (or lack thereof) in finding the cache. Please keep this in mind when entering your log. |
The church was built and opened in the late 12th century. It last received a major refurbishment in 1967, however, in 1983 the church was re-wired and wrought-iron pendant lights, which had previously hung in Salisbury Cathedral, were installed.
Just further down the road from the church, is the village blind house. This location is deserving of its own cache, however, it is too close to this one so it will have to be appreciated without one, for now.
Heytesbury used to have the A36 run through it, a diversion was built however, to handle the ever-growing traffic demands. At either end of the village (where Geocaches Sailsbury 17&18 are placed) you will find abandoned the stretches of road where the road was cut off, and turned into a bypass. If you're like me, and find stuff like this interesting, it's definitely worth a look.
Accessibility
The cache is wheelchair acsessable, however, it is close to the ground so assistance may be needed for some.
I first passed this church back in 2018, I was on my first geocache walk around the area. I remember being surprised that this church didn't have a church micro, however, I didn't drive back then so I couldn't place my own. I had forgotten all about it until a couple of weeks ago, and decided since I had a lot of spare time on my hands at the time, I would place one here.
