I was going to call this cache Tidal Flow due to the visible current that you can see when the tide is either coming in or going out.
This name brought up memories from my childhood of the Enya song "Orinoco Flow" and walking along the path, I couldn't help murmering "sail away, sail away, sail away"
I wondered what was the Orinoco Flow and it turns out the song was recorded at the Orinoco Studios (now Miloco Studios). The Orinoco River is one of the longest rivers in South America at 2250 km long being mostly in Venezuela and the remainder in Colombia.
Looking at the lyrics, Orinoco Flow mainly mentions a number of locations (none in NZ unless "From the North to the South" is about our islands?) and of course repeats "sail away". Curiously, Enya's song mentions Rob Dickens, the executive producer of her label and Ross Cullum, the co-producer.
The song (released on 3/10/1988) was never expected to do as well as it did. Enya was signed to Warner Music by Rob Dickens as he liked her music and said "Sometimes you sign an act to make money, and sometimes you sign an act to make music. This was clearly the latter... I just wanted to be involved with this music."
"In the week of release, Tower Records rang up to say that when they played the album in the shop they sold 45 copies - almost everyone in the shop bought the record... It was unheard of."
It reached No 1 in the charts of a number of European countries, No 2 here in New Zealand, No 6 in Australia and No 24 in the US.
Enya is the best-selling Irish solo artist in history and second-best-selling Irish act after U2. Not bad considering she has only made 8 studio albums since 1988, never toured and hardly ever preforms live.
