Geocache Description:

29 April 2023, 09:00 - 09:30

Join us for some geo-socializing and an optional bicycle event along the Legacy Trail. You do not have to ride a bike to attend the event and everyone is invited!

The Legacy Trail is approximately twelve miles long and runs from the north end near the Kentucky Horse Park to the south to the Isaac Murphy Memorial Garden in Lexington. There will be around 40 new caches that cover about 5.5 miles one way along the trail with several other caches along or near the trail. You don't have to seek out these caches to attend the event. After socializing for 30 minutes, those wanting to ride or walk the trail are welcome to do so. If you have not been to this area before you could easily pick up 30 - 40 caches along or very close to the trail but will be going more than 5.5 miles.

You can start from the northern end near the event and ride south or start from the Isaac Murphy Memorial Garden area and start at that end. Parking is available at three trailheads: Coldstream Park at McGrathiana Boulevard, North Lexington Family YMCA on Loudon Avenue and Iron Works Pike across from the Kentucky Horse Park campground. Either way you will be on a paved surface most of the time. The caches are generally located a short distance from the paved tail.

You can ride a bike, walk or run on the trail. No motorized vehicles of any type are allowed.
